Drag queens were the leaders of the riots and were among the first to fight back, challenging the police who targeted them for not conforming to gender norms.

The Queens Who Built the Movement highlights our struggle and our powerful ability to overcome. It honours those who came before us and without them, the queer community wouldn't be what it is today.
